Epitomics, a fast growing start-up biotech located in Burlingame is offering a summer internship position which would be ideal for a student or recent graduate looking to improve his/her skills and gain some practical experience working on real-world projects.
We are looking for a highly motivated, goal-oriented individual who is willing to participate in a Ruby On Rails project and gain some experience in corporate web development. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, flexible and equally comfortable working as part of a team as well as independently.
The Internship is expected to last 2-3 months (June-August) with ~40 hour work week in the company's Burlingame office.
Project overview:
Work with company’s webmaster on the development of an internal web based data management tool and redesign of their corporate website.
Primary language skills: Ruby, HTML, CSS, AJAX, and JavaScript.
tDevelopment environmen: Rails 2.x, MySQL
Database knowledge: SQL based DB engines, MySQL
Responsibilities:
- Develop / utilize skill set of Ruby on Rails and associated technologies.
- Participate in a complex web development project to develop the company’s internal management tool and redesigned corporate website.
Requirements:
- Previous web development experience a must
- Good understanding of relational databases
- Good understanding of object oriented programming
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, web development and associated technologies including JavaScript, XHTML, CSS and AJAX
- Solid XHTML, JavaScript and CSS skills
- Knowledge of Subversion for code maintenance is a plus
- Experience in writing requirements definitions will be an added plus
